Original Art

[12-29-2009] Whiskeybird reports:

Regular fanart contributor Polidread [ Deviantart account] sent me this image - scanned official art from a chapter of the Beast Arc that I haven't read yet!

Polidread says the title of the chapter that this full-page pull-out had graced is "Ghost and Demon." He couldn't procure a copy of the magazine from which this was scanned, so as of now we can't be sure of the context, but again - what a find!

Fan art that was published in UU magazine can also be found in the Fan Art section: the SD Angel Boys by Mayet. The artist has generously shared with us a colored version of her published line art. Thanks Mayet!

[10-29-2007] Whiskeybird reports:

During the New Worlds Alliance's 5th Philippine Science Fiction and Fantasy convention which took place yesterday (Saturday, Oct 28 2007), I met up with fellow AoA fan Polidread (see his AoA fanart here), who gave me a kickass mix CD and notified me of an auction going on for a rare original print by Paul Idario.

So I skipped a little of the Writers' Forum to bid and I won't tell you how much I won it for, but I got this:

This is a shot of the original print for the image that made the November 2004 cover for Unbelievers Unlimited - a rare and hard-to-find issue!

It was only the print being auctioned, but the artist had secretly packed it in with a rare never-before-seen color printout of adult Sheila(!) which might have made the item more valuable if the auctioneers had only known!

Alas, it was cleverly concealed between the print and the backing board, so I don't think anyone could have spotted it:

Actually, I wouldn't have spotted it either if Paul Idario himself had not been present at the convention to point it out to me.

I have two photographs of Paul holding up the print and the cover it made (which he'd brought with him, for the sake of the auction). Man these pics are lousy quality, but priceless nonetheless:

yes, that is a red lightsaber passing through his head.

A very lucky find!

Stay tuned for more original art sightings!
